Needle Mesotherapy – Skin Regeneration and Rejuvenation

Needle Mesotherapy is a popular skin-rejuvenation treatment designed to improve skin firmness, hydration and overall condition. It is particularly beneficial for dull, tired, dry or lacklustre skin, as well as for addressing pigmentation concerns and minor post-acne marks. It is an excellent way to support the skin’s natural renewal processes and restore a healthy, radiant appearance.

Who Is Needle Mesotherapy Suitable For?

Needle Mesotherapy is a versatile treatment with a wide range of applications. It can be performed both as a preventative measure and as part of a targeted skin-improvement programme. It is commonly used on the face, neck and décolletage, but may also be applied to other areas of the body, including the inner arms and thighs, abdomen, backs of the hands and scalp. It may be recommended for individuals experiencing skin laxity, loss of firmness, cellulite or excessive hair loss, depending on the treatment area and the formulation used.
The treatment is intended to support the skin’s natural renewal processes, stimulate microcirculation and improve tissue oxygenation. Depending on the active ingredients used and the area treated, it may also help improve the appearance of localised concerns, including the submental area beneath the chin. The aim is to achieve skin that looks smoother, firmer and more supple, with a fresher appearance and a more defined-looking facial contour.

How Does Needle Mesotherapy Work?

During Needle Mesotherapy, small amounts of a carefully selected preparation are introduced into the superficial layers of the skin using a fine needle. The formulation is tailored to the individual’s skin condition and treatment goals. Depending on the product used, the formulation may contain:

The treatment typically takes 30–60 minutes. The level of discomfort varies depending on the technique used, the treatment area and individual sensitivity. For clients who are particularly sensitive to pain, a topical anaesthetic cream may be applied approximately 30 minutes beforehand, where appropriate and in accordance with the product instructions.

After the procedure, a suitable soothing and protective product may be applied. If the skin has been treated with needles, sun protection should be used as appropriate to the condition of the skin and the practitioner’s aftercare instructions.

Mild redness, swelling or small bruises may occur at the injection sites immediately after treatment. These effects generally resolve on their own within a few days, although recovery time varies from person to person.

Preparing for the Treatment

In the days leading up to the procedure, it is advisable to avoid saunas and tanning beds. The skin should be clean and free from active infections or inflammation in the treatment area.

For optimal results, a course of treatments may be recommended, depending on the skin’s condition, the preparation used and the individual treatment plan. A commonly proposed schedule may include three sessions at two-week intervals, followed by three further sessions at monthly intervals. Maintenance treatments may subsequently be considered once or twice a year, depending on the individual’s needs and the product used.

Some clients may notice an improvement in skin hydration, smoothness and radiance within a few days. Other changes, including improvements in skin texture and firmness, may develop gradually over time. Results vary depending on the individual, the treatment technique and the formulation used.

Aftercare Following Needle Mesotherapy

Following treatment, it is important to avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds and saunas until the skin has recovered, in accordance with the practitioner’s aftercare instructions.

Use appropriate broad-spectrum sun protection and gentle, hydrating skincare products. The skin should be treated delicately: avoid rubbing or irritating the treated area, and do not apply makeup immediately after the procedure. Makeup should only be resumed when appropriate for the condition of the skin and in accordance with the practitioner’s advice.

Maintaining adequate hydration and following a balanced diet can help support overall skin health and the body’s normal recovery processes.

Contraindications to Needle Mesotherapy

Needle Mesotherapy may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Other contraindications may include active skin infections or inflammation in the treatment area, active cold sores, certain malignant diseases, known allergies to the ingredients in the preparation and the use of anticoagulant medication.

A thorough consultation and assessment of medical history are essential before treatment. Suitability should be determined by a qualified practitioner, taking into account the specific product, technique, individual health circumstances and applicable professional guidelines.
